Dear Supervisor:

What’s happening?  - Salary Continuation Change Effective May 1, 2003

For Agent, Management Specialist, and TWU represented employees

This letter is being sent to all front-line supervisors in preparation for salary continuation changes effective May 1, 2003.  The information below applies to employees currently receiving salary continuation (ID)

Salary Continuation Policy

¨      Effective May 1, 2003, salary continuation will be paid for a compensable injury on duty for up to 10 workdays (previously 80 days)

Employees currently receiving Salary Continuation

¨      Attached are copies of letters being Federal Expressed by Human Resources to employees currently receiving salary continuation (there is one sample letter attached for employees represented by the TWU and one for Agents, Management and Support Staff).  The letter should be received by the injured employee no later than Tuesday, April 29, 2003.

¨      Employees injured prior to May 1, 2003 who have not received 10 workdays of salary continuance are eligible to receive a maximum of 10 workdays of salary continuation (which could extend beyond May 1).

¨      Where does a supervisor refer a currently injured employee with questions?

¨      Questions about medical benefits and state-mandated benefits (TTD payments): the employee should contact his/her adjustor at Specialty Risk Services (SRS).

¨      Questions about salary continuation, sick pay and/or leave status: the employee should contact one of the informed representatives on the attached page who are well versed on the subject.

We will be sending you more information next week concerning injuries occurring May 1, 2003 or later.
