Transportation Unions Applaud Appointment of Linda Puchala to the National Mediation Board

WASHINGTON, DC – Edward Wytkind, President of the Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO, issued the following statement today in reaction to the Obama Administration’s nomination of Linda Puchala as a Member of the National Mediation Board.

“We applaud the President’s selection of Linda Puchala to serve as a Member of the National Mediation Board (NMB).  Linda is a true professional in the field of labor relations and has dedicated herself to fostering productive collective bargaining and resolving labor-management disputes.

“With the appointment of Linda Puchala, the Obama Administration has demonstrated its belief in the importance of a fair and balanced collective bargaining process.  And the Administration has reaffirmed its support for a worker’s right to freely form and join unions.

“We urge the Senate to move swiftly and confirm this nominee to this vitally important labor-management agency.”
